Yaphet is the fifth solo album from Curly Castro (also known for the duo Shrapknel), released September 18, 2026 on Backwoodz Studioz, the label co-run by billy woods. Named after actor Yaphet Kotto, the record draws its visual and sonic language from 1970s blaxploitation cinema, produced entirely by Milwaukee beatmaker Locust. Beneath the cinematic surface Castro tackles deeply personal material, delivered through his trademark dense, shifting flows, with the opening posse cut bringing together underground stalwarts like billy woods, Fatboi Sharif, Blueprint, Brian Ennals, SKECH185 and AJ Suede.
