Released June 22, 2018 on his own ESGN imprint via EMPIRE, Freddie is Freddie Gibbs's raw, autobiographical mixtape-style album, arriving on the heels of his acclaimed run with producers Madlib and Alchemist. Built on stripped-down, hard-hitting production including several beats from Kenny Beats, it finds Gibbs at his most reflective and reckless, closing with "Diamonds 2," a tender family cut featuring his daughter Irie Jane. Critics praised it as some of his most essential work, with Pitchfork calling it "a pure and reckless purge."
