Released in 2012 as the follow-up to his breakout debut, Maskerade found Fresku pushing back against the image his first album had created, wrapping cynical, self-aware lyrics in artwork and an accompanying documentary built around the idea of masks and false perception. The record deepened his standing as one of TopNotch's key Dutch-language voices, pairing guests like Neenah, Winne, Ali B and comedian Theo Maassen with the razor-sharp storytelling that had already won him a loyal following.
