SMIB grew out of Amsterdam Zuidoost (the Bijlmer) in the mid-2010s, evolving from a scrappy local scene into a full creative collective spanning music, fashion and retail, driven by core members GRGY and Ray Fuego. Eendraght Maekt Maght borrows its archaic spelling from the old Dutch/Belgian motto "Eendracht maakt macht" (unity makes strength), a fitting title for a crew built on doing everything together, on their own terms. True to SMIB's do-it-yourself ethos, the album mixes hip-hop with indie rock and experimental production while staying rooted firmly in Zuidoost.
